Ston Walls

    25 min drive

Europe's second-longest preserved fortification walls, originally 5.5km and now 5km walkable. Built in the 14th-15th century to protect the salt pans that funded the Dubrovnik Republic, these walls rival anything in Europe. Walking them offers spectacular views over salt pans, oyster farms, and the Adriatic.

    What to Expect

    • Built 14th-15th century by Dubrovnik Republic
    • Walk the walls (1.5-2 hours)
    • Spectacular views over salt pans
    • Go early morning or evening (summer heat)
    • 20 towers along the route
    • Combine with oyster lunch
💡 Insider TipWalk the walls at sunset, then have oysters at a waterfront restaurant after. Perfect combination. Start from Mali Ston for the most dramatic approach.
