    Wild Beach Cleanup

    Walking distance + nearby coves

Clear plastic, styrofoam, and sea-washed debris from Žuljana's wild beaches and hidden coves. Hands-on, physical, deeply satisfying.

    • 2-3 hour sessions along hidden coves
    • Equipment and collection bags provided
    • Impact tracking — weight collected, area cleaned
    • ESG-reportable environmental contribution
    • Combines well with a coastal walk or swim
    • Suitable for all fitness levels
💡 Insider Tip: The best time is after a south-easterly wind (jugo), which washes the most debris ashore. We monitor weather patterns and schedule cleanups for maximum impact. Bring water shoes — some of the best coves are accessed over rocks.

    Forest Trail Stewardship

From the village + Pelješac interior

Trail clearing and forest cleanup in the Pelješac interior. Combines hiking with purpose — leave the trails better than you found them.

    • Half-day sessions in shaded forest
    • Trail clearing and maintenance
    • Woodland litter collection
    • Learn about Mediterranean forest ecology
    • Cooler than coastal activities in summer
    • Tools and guidance provided
💡 Insider Tip: The forest paths near Potomje wind through vineyards before entering pine woodland — the transition is beautiful. In autumn, you might spot wild asparagus or mushrooms. We always end with a cold drink at a local konoba.

    Olive Grove Volunteering

    10-15 min drive

Seasonal help with local olive harvesting (Nov–Dec). Authentic agricultural participation — pick olives alongside local families.

    • Seasonal: November–December only
    • Work alongside local families
    • Learn traditional harvesting techniques
    • Taste fresh-pressed olive oil on-site
    • Half-day or full-day options
    • Authentic cultural immersion
💡 Insider Tip: The best olive oil comes from hand-picked fruit pressed within 24 hours. If you time your visit right, you can follow your morning's harvest to the press and taste the oil that afternoon. Some families will let you take a bottle of "your" oil home.

    Dry Stone Wall Restoration

    5-20 min drive

Learn traditional building techniques while restoring heritage infrastructure. Cultural preservation meets physical work.

    • UNESCO-recognised traditional craft
    • Learn from local master masons
    • Physical, hands-on work
    • Visible, lasting impact
    • Cultural heritage preservation
    • Half-day sessions with instruction
💡 Insider Tip: The walls near the vineyards above Potomje are among the oldest — some date back centuries. The local masons are characters, full of stories. Ask them about the "rules" of dry stone — there's a whole philosophy of how stones should sit. Bring gloves.

    Grape Harvest Volunteering

    15-20 min drive (Dingač/Postup)

Join local winemakers picking Plavac Mali grapes on the steep Dingač and Postup terraces. Physical, authentic, seasonal (late August–early October).

    • Seasonal: late August–early October
    • Work the prestigious Dingač/Postup terraces
    • Pick alongside local winemaking families
    • Harvest lunch with the winemaker's own wine
    • Physical work in extraordinary settings
    • Natural cross-link with wine tasting experiences
💡 Insider Tip: Ask the winemaker about the difference between Dingač and Postup — same grape, different terroir, remarkably different wines. The harvest lunch is never planned in advance; whatever's in the kitchen that day becomes the feast. Bring sun protection — the south-facing slopes are intense.

    Winter Vineyard Care

    15-20 min drive

Pruning, tying vines, and soil maintenance through the quiet winter months (December–March). Meditative, physical, and deeply connected to the land.

    • Seasonal: December–March
    • Learn vine pruning from local experts
    • Meditative, deliberate work pace
    • Beautiful winter coastal landscapes
    • Understand the full annual vine cycle
    • Ideal for off-season retreat groups
💡 Insider Tip: Winter pruning is considered the most important vineyard task of the year — it determines the next harvest. The local viticulturists take it very seriously and are wonderful teachers. Dress in layers; the slopes can be cool in the morning but warm quickly in the afternoon sun.
